Every institution designs its network for the average day: a few thousand devices, normal traffic, business hours. Then exam season arrives and every student in the hall needs simultaneous access to a CBT portal that must not drop a single session.
The engineering answer is to design for the peak from the start. That means sizing uplinks and access switches against concurrent session counts, isolating examination VLANs so a broadcast storm on one segment cannot take down the hall, and adding monitoring that alerts on CPU, port saturation and latency before users feel it.
The result is not just a network that survives exams — it is infrastructure with headroom for whatever the next peak turns out to be.
